HongKong Toy Hunting

When I went to HongKong last summer, toy hunting was on top of my "to-do list," I managed to document some of the cool shops that offers cool toys of course. So here they are, in Random Order...

*P.S.* Heres the Guide on MechaPinoy on the Shops of HK
MechaPinoy™ HK Gundam Guide
and it was really helpful...

"CAUSEWAY BAY
1. After Wanchai, head towards Causeway Bay (CWB) on foot, 'coz you'll be halfway between either nearest MTR stations anyway. At CWB, don't miss out SOGO, Mitsukoshi and Seibu dept stores - they might have some old stuff not carried by the usual toy sellers."

you really won't miss this place because of the big sign! hahaha.. the goodies could be found at the 6th or 7th floor if i remember it correctly...

"3. Toyzone HK, 16th Floor Causeway Bay Commercial Building, Sugar St (or "Tong Kai" in Cantonese). If you love vintage Japanese toys, you MUST NOT MISS this shop... They are stacked to the ceiling with old toys... I went there 3 times in 6 days and found great buys each time. Friendly people too. Highly recommended!"

hmmm.. i didn't took a picture of the building of this, but i took pictures on how to get there from Sogo...

Photobucket

when you reach Sogo, look left or right and find this spot, continue walking until you reach this spot (this circle), once your below the circle, turn left and you'll see the Causeway Bay Commercial building, it's on your left.

Click here to see the actual building, other collectors had took picture of the place before...

ok, after ToyZone, go down the building and head left again to Causeway Shopping Arcade, there are toyshops located on the second floor, but there are more below, but the shops usually open at around 3pm.

"3. Turn the bend towards Sai Yeong Choi Rd South and you'll find CTMA CENTRE. Another treasure trove of toy shops, too many to single out. About 4 floors up and 2 floors below. This place is fantastic, but the shops open from 4pm onwards. Some don't open till 8 or 9!"

Photobucket

this is the CTMA Center, you could see the sign Toy Market (if i remember) on the door of CTMA. hahah..

snuck some pics of the shops inside CTMA.

"4. Across CTMA, there's a manga/magazine shop. Above it is a toy shop called ANIMATE. Some bargains to be found, but not terribly fantastic."

Photobucket

you could see this just across CTMA Center. ;d

Photobucket

zoomed in at Animate Shop, this is where i got my Lancelot! other stuffs include Revoltechs, SIC, etc. and oh, recent Hobby Magazines like Dengeki Hobby, Hobby Japan, Gundam Weapons and other mags related to hobby and toy collecting could be found here! hahaha.. ;d

Photobucket

and oh, Gundam Modelers should not miss this place! it's a Gundam Collectors Heaven inside. the Shop is called Ray's Hobby, operated by Ray Ng, the modeler featured in many Hobby magazines. haha.. omg! :o & when you get in there, you'll drool coz of the Gundams he modeled! too bad Photography is not allowed on his shop. He also sells stuffs like kits (i got my Hi-Nu here!), spare parts, decals, Gundam Weapons Magazine, Gundam T-Shirts, etc. When i was there, he was busy "ABying" MG MK-II.. hahaha.. ;d

Note: He also has a class / crash course on Gundam Modeling, i just read it from his website.. One on One with Ray Ng.

these are some pics that you'll encounter when going up the stairs to the Shop, and BTW, those Gundams on the wall are modeled by Ray himself.. haha.. ;d
